The Good Soldier Švejk

Josef Lada's illustrations for the World War I novel "The Good Soldier Švejk" are collected here. Over 50 illustrations are featured which is "less than one third of the line drawings supplied by Lada."

Also, be sure to check out the blog that these illustrations were scanned for, BibliOdyssey, which collects vintage book illustrations.

update 08.03.08- I just realized I've had a 1926 edition of this book in German for the past several years! Thank you, Strand dollar rack!

A while ago, I posted about Jamie Hewlett's character designs for the BBC. Here's what the opening sequence for their Olympic coverage ended up looking like-

Another Little Feller for Las Vegas CityLife

While doing this I realized the last time I did a group shot was quite a long time ago. More people is more fun. Who knew?

Misaki Kawai

I absolutely love this new direction Misaki Kawai is going in. I can't wait to see her upcoming shows. Something about the forms and palettes remind me a lot of one of my favorite artists– Milton Avery. What I wouldn't give (well, besides loads of money) to have one of these on every wall in my apartment.

Some posters from
This is one of those sites that you get trapped in as it eats hours from your day...
Here are a few that caught my eye this time round! (I'm sure I missed hundreds of equally awesome posters.) I find posters mighty satisfying... hopefully I'll get some time soon to make a couple soon.

Las Vegas CityLife

Here's a newbie about the state giving tax breaks to businesses while denying teachers a raise. I do love the borderless drawing assignments.

Check out the work of illustrator Kiraz (née Edmond Kirazian) here. He was a regular Playboy contributor in the 70s so be warned- NSFW!
