Flowers x 1,000

The finished backpage for the December/January issue of Paper. My left eye started to twitch again while working on this one.. which reminded me that it would be nice to have health insurance.

Kiehl's Holiday Display

I loooove Kiehl's products (highschool was all about their blackberry lipgloss) so was just beside myself when they called and asked me to contribute some work for their holiday display! Unfortunately they only ended up using my shampoo bottle, but I really can't complain! I saw the display for myself the other day and it looks wonderful, the whole store looks tasteful and festive. Good thing I had no money on me at the time cause I really could've done some damage....

Done & done.

Finally finished up the new group of stitchings and sent them off to the Anno Domini Gallery in San Jose for their holiday group show, 'Fresh Produce'. It was fun (albeit exhausting) to so many quick, little stitchings all at once. The rest will be up on my site soon! Here n' here.

The Technology Issue

"The Technology Issue," The L Magazine, November 19- 25, 2008

My first cover! I did this for Cecilia over at the L Magazine for their technology issue. This was a fun assignment- I love drawing scenes from the past but I'd never before realized what a blast it is to design the future. It was quite a challenge too- reference is scarce.

More Kleptomaniac Objects

I just finished these two new Kleptomaniac pieces, but for some strange reason, my attempts to render the wholesome little girl scout is way off! My version came out looking mischievous and retarded in a way...eek.

Las Vegas City Life

Thanks to Drew for sending Maureen Adamo over at Las Vegas City Life my way! For a story about a writer putting out the follow up to his wildly successful debut novel and finding himself imbued with a rockstar status of sorts. The AD wanted something with a sort of Beatlemania feel to it which was a lot of fun fun fun...

The Wettest County in the World

"The Wettest County in the World," The New York Times Book Review, November 9, 2008
Matt Bondurant’s second novel is inspired by his family's bootlegging past. Nicholas Blechman was nice enough to let me choose which sketch to develop into the final illustration. As much as I enjoyed drawing the still and other moonshine paraphernalia, I decided to go with the more dramatic scene mentioned in Lousia Thomas' review.

(Don't worry- he survives his wound by trekking 12 miles to the nearest hospital!)
