Decemberists' Lottery

The Decemberists for The New Yorker, Sept. 7th 2009.

This is a fun piece I did for Max at The New Yorker- about the Decemberists' upcoming show where they will choose their playlist using a lottery.

Jerusalem

Jez Butterworth's "Jerusalem," The New Yorker, September 7, 2009

Mark Rylance stars in "Jerusalem" as a "rabble-rousing, reckless character." Read more about him in John Lahr's "Wayward Waster" here.

Thanks, Max!

Halloweenies 10

Despite being completely MIA from society for the last 4 months (I go into hibernation during the summer) I'm finally emerging from my studio! I did these Halloween-themed guys for a show at Gallery 1988 in LA recently, which opened a few weeks back. You can get a better look at them HERE. Yay for Fall!

Doodlee-Doo

Did a Back To School cover for Maureen Adamo at Las Vegas CityLife in the style of the angsty, procrastinating teen. Good times - diggin out bic pens, ratty ball points, and trying to remember the stuff I used to spend all my waking moments doing: covering pages without intention or, very often, good taste - and then try to throw in some editorial content.

Still Alive!

Haha, right, I'm not dead - still alive and painting! Above are a couple of illos from the past couple of monthes.
In case you might think I've been sitting on my butt, twiddling my thumbs this whole time, I've actually been posting a good deal of stuff to another blog I begun this summer - it includes a lot of non-illustration related projects and the like (sewing, old houses and all that jazz) which is why I chose to create a seperate blog.

Check it out HERE!

Balint Zsako

Toronto artist Balint Zsako has some really fun watercolor/drawing at his site - think if Matthew Palladino meets George Bates and they then draw sexual things.

GALACTUS!!

My comic obsession of late has led me, inevitably, to Galactus. Spawned from a Cosmic Egg and survivor of the Big Bang, Galactus is the jam. He also enjoys boogie boarding and cooking.
