Lord and Horde

"Lord of the Rings," The New Yorker, September 28, 2009

When my "Walt and El Grupo" illustration was killed, this piece, inspired by the siege of Helm's Deep in "The Two Towers," was commissioned to take its place. "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy screens this week at the MoMA.

Read "Lord and Horde" here.

Thanks, Max!

Hellloo dream job. You completed this assignment with elven delicacy but still forged with dwarven weight and impudence.

It's too bad this is such a small illo... would look INSANELY badass as 3.5x5. Great piece, as always!
