Did this here illo for The Stranger last week. On the relationship between Obama & Hip Hop. Read the article here!
Slightly intimidating doing a portrait of Obama I have to say...

"The Last Mistress," the latest erotic psychodrama from Catherine Breillat, tells the story of a penniless scoundrel who marries a virginal aristocrat, much to the chargin of his previous lover (played by Asia Argento).
Piece for Sarah Smith at Spectra Pulse about science fiction heroines. This one was pretty fun. Its nice to let my inner (and sometimes not so inner) nerd walk over a page sometimes. You'll notice my heroine actually quit smoking after the sketch stage of this piece, which was a really big step for her, and Im very proud.
Yes that's right. One of the best pedigree-ed children in the world is sporting one of the shark shirts I painted for the GAP. I must say that is one of the best things about apparel work for mass market. It really gets everywhere. I'm almost loathe to admit how much this made my day. Although the style is really different from my normal illo work, it's pretty fun to stretch your legs with a different look.

The gorilla loved it. He had never seen a human act like a polite ape before. He came right up to the glass and posed for me while I did this half-hour portrait from just two feet away.

Here's a portrait of Laura Marling, an 18 year-old singer-songwriter from England. The third sketch was chosen but I was asked to give her the more up-to-date pixie haircut. Comparing that sketch with final looks a bit like hair salon's "before and after" shots.
